Showers and short intervals of sunshine summed up the weather on Sunday with another 6.2mm of rain from the daytime showers and more rain just after midnight. That took the monthly total 45.2mm being 69% of the long-term average. It was a cool day, thanks to the minimal sunshine with the thermometer not rising above 20.1C, which was 2.5C below average. We have only had three days this month when the maximum rose above the long-term average. Due to the thick cloud cover and ongoing moist southwesterly airstream it was another mild night with a minimum of 14.9C, which was 2.9C above the average and identical to the previous night.
The depression that was centred off the west coast of Scotland has begun to ease away but another over North Wales has taken its place. As a result Monday dawned dull with light rain and a more consistent and heavier period from 07.30 to 08.10. The barometric pressure has fallen away to 1009.6mb by 08.00.
