From a wet Icelandic July to heatwave in the UK

Having enjoyed two weeks exploring Iceland, being the wettest July in 120 years, it was good to return to much sunshine and heat. The month so far has given us only one day when the maximum temperature did not reach or exceed 20C, 18.9C on the 8th. The last week has brought consistent maxima of 26C and 27C with the hottest day so far touching 27.8C on the 23rd.
There have been significant falls of rain with the highest of 17.7mm on the 7th, interspersed with hot, dry days. The total rainfall to date is 44mm but the evapotranspiration total is now almost double that with 83mm.
